Ernie Collins is a 4-year Veteran of the United States Air Force and Commander of the Mt. Vernon American Legion Post 141 Funeral Detail. Ernie has conducted and presided over 1,000+ military funerals in Jefferson County. Unfortunately, Ernie fell recently and broke some ribs but this local hero is working hard on his recovery. To boost Ernie’s spirits, during the Holiday Season and this tough time, a committee of Jefferson County Veterans are requesting get well cards be sent to him at the White Oaks Rehab Center located at 1700 White Street in Mt.
