SALEM, IL — A kitchen fire caused significant damage to a home in Salem Mobile Home Park late Sunday night. Jacob Miller, Keaden Lucas, and their dog escaped unharmed after being awakened by the dog. The fire, which started from a pot left on the stove, heavily damaged the kitchen and caused smoke and water damage throughout the home. Firefighters managed to prevent the fire from burning through the roof, potentially allowing the home to be repaired. The fire was under control within an hour, with assistance from Odin Fire Department.
