Coy Holt, 83, of Bluford, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at Deaconess Hospital in Mount Vernon, Illinois. He was born in Independence County Arkansas to Frank M. Holt and Josephine (Loggins) Holt. Coy married Wilma (Ratliff) Holt on February 22, 1969, in Arkansas, and together they built a life centered on love and family.
Coy is survived by his beloved wife, Wilma Holt, of Bluford, Illinois; his children, Jeff and wife Lori Holt of Peoria, Illinois; Debra and husband Mario Hodge of Opdyke, Illinois; Keyshawn C.J. Holt, Tera M. Holt, and Scott B. Holt, all of Bluford, Illinois; his grandchildren, Aaron Holt and wife Felicity of Elmwood, Illinois, Nathan Holt and wife Elizabeth of Peoria, Illinois, Rebekah Holt of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Silvio Hodge and wife Mallory of Bluford, Illinois, and Sophia Hodge of Mount Vernon, Illinois; and nine great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his brother, Thurman Holt and wife Brenda of Little Rock, Arkansas, and his sister, Martha Jean Boatwright of Hot Springs, Arkansas, as well as several nieces and nephews, including Christa Wease, Tiffany Wood, and Christian Wease, who were raised in his home. He leaves behind many great-nieces and nephews, including Karley Kohler, Kelby Wood, and Dawson Wood.
Coy was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Josephine Holt, and by his siblings: Willie, Lettie, C.W., H.W., Elsie, Odell, Pearle May, Leonard, Rotha, Otha, Troy, Sharon Kay, Mammie, Kritie, and Chester.
A hardworking man, Coy found joy in the simple pleasure of family. His love for his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was his greatest treasure. He will be remembered for his unwavering devotion, kind heart, and the legacy of love he leaves behind. Coy also served in the United States Army. A Visitation for Coy will be held Monday, December 16, 2024 from 11 AM to 1 PM at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois with a Celebration of Life to follow at 1 PM. Memorials may be made to honor Coy to the DAV, Disabled American Veterans.
