FAIRFIELD, IL — Two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday morning west of Fairfield at the “Y” intersection on IL 15. According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department, a 2018 Ford Flex driven by 60-year-old Micky Haygood was stopped at a stop sign when it was struck by a 2018 Ford driven by 42-year-old Stephanie Nugent of Enfield. Nugent was airlifted to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville with serious injuries. A female passenger in Haygood’s vehicle was transported to Fairfield Memorial Hospital. Nugent was cited for disobeying a stop sign. The Fairfield Fire Department also responded to the scene.
