RFD ILLINOIS — Farmers here in Illinois and across the U.S. are still awaiting disaster relief for losses from weather events in 2022 and 2023. Despite the $3.74 billion allocated for 2022 crop losses, only a fraction of the uncovered losses have been addressed, with billions still unaccounted for. In 2023 alone, severe weather events, including hurricanes, droughts, and wildfires, caused over $21 billion in agricultural losses. A proposal in Congress seeks to provide an additional $14 billion in aid to support farmers and ranchers as they continue to recover from the devastating impact of extreme weather.
