MT. VERNON – A man wanted for an alleged shooting recently in Mt. Vernon is now behind bars.

Mt. Vernon Police say 37-year-old Timothy Boyd of Mt. Vernon was arrested without incident Thursday morning at a hotel in Carlyle by the U.S. Marshals Task Force and accompanied by Mt. Vernon Police. He was taken to the Jefferson County Jail and lodged on an Illinois Department of Corrections warrant along with Attempted Murder, two counts of Aggravated Battery with a Firearm, and Armed Habitual Offender.

Thirty-eight-year-old Myleika Whitelow of Centralia was in the hotel room with Boyd. Whitelow was charged with Aiding/Concealing a Fugitive in relation to this incident.

Just after 11:30 p.m. on Oct. 12, officers responded to the 1100 block of Lamar for a report of a shooting. Three shooting victims were treated at local hospitals and later transferred to St. Louis for further treatment. They had serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. Mt. Vernon Police detectives and crime scene investigators responded to begin the investigation into the shooting. The investigation revealed the offender was Boyd. Officers began to search for Boyd to arrest him.
