Virgil Eugene “Deanie” Williams, 88, of Mt. Vernon passed away Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.

He was born on January 31, 1936 the son of Virgil M. & Etta (Witzel) Williams.

He married Phyllis (Kerr) on September 24, 1954 at the 2nd Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon. The ceremony was officiated by Rev. Carl Whittington. Deanie & Phyllis just celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary .

Deanie was a long time member of East Salem Baptist Church and was church organist for 30 plus years. He owned & operated Deanie’s Flower Depot in Mt. Vernon.

Tanya McPheeters & husband Tom of Mt. Vernon

Tamela Owens & husband Pat of Dale, Indiana

5 Granddaughters:

Samantha Byers & husband Cole

Trisha Gonzalez & husband Esteban

12 Great-Grandchildren

1 Brother: Carl Williams & wife Debbie of Ina

Sister-in-law: Vernell Mulvaney of Venice, Florida

Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his Parents and by a Great-Grandson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, October 15th at the East Salem Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon with Bro. David Shores officiating. Burial will be in the East Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday at the church.
