MARION – The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an internal investigation into a complaint it received Monday from an individual who had been recently released from the custody of the Williamson County Jail.

The information provided described an incident involving excessive use of force by a correctional officer which happened around 9:10 p.m. on Friday, June 28.

The sheriff’s office has and is continuing to conduct an internal investigation which has recovered sufficient evidence, including video, that probable cause of a criminal offense has occurred.

Sheriff Jeff Diederich, in consultation with Williamson County State’s Attorney Ted Hampson, took the following action Tuesday against Jeffrey L. Stallings.

Stallings was cited for Aggravated Battery and Official Misconduct – both Class 3 felonies.

Stallings has been remanded into the custody of the Williamson County Sheriff and is being housed in a nearby county detention center due to his prior status at the jail.

Four correctional officers have been suspended with pay, pursuant to policy, pending the outcome of this investigation.

Sheriff Diederich says this continues to remain an ongoing investigation and additional charges and actions are anticipated.
