
CENTRALIA — Richard Porter, Sr., age 84, of Centralia, IL, passed away on Monday, May 20th, 2024 at his home.
He was born on Thursday, February 29th, 1940, to Fred and Beulah (Stover) Porter. He married Mary Ingram in Boyd, IL on March 12, 1966. She preceded him in death on Feb. 16, 2003.
Richard is survived by his son, Richard E. Porter, and wife Cindy of Centralia, IL; step-son, Charles Marshall of Central City, IL; step-daughter, Kathy Palmer of Naples, FL; sister, Alice Gelsinger of Shattuc, IL; grandchildren, Hannah Porter, Ben Watson, Tiffany Looman, Dave Looman, Roddy Gamblin, Mikey Miller, Ian Marshall and wife Sarah, and Kerensa Marshall; as well as many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Beulah Porter, his wife Mary Porter, step-son Doug Marshall, and several brothers and sisters.
Richard will be remembered being an avid Texas Hold ‘Em card player and in a league. He was an avid sports fan. He also served in the U.S. Air Force. Richard worked for Egyptian Concrete for 34 years before retiring. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Private family burial will be held at a later date in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia.
