FAYETTE COUNTY — The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office is once again alerting people to an online scam claiming to sell equipment out of Beecher City.

According to the sheriff’s office, the website mdwdirectcenter.com claims to sell heavy equipment, recreational vehicles, trucks and boats.

The sheriff’s office warned last month of a very similar website SMT Trek Central that also claimed to be in Beecher City.

ScamAdviser says mdwdirectcenter.com has a very low trust score indicating a likely scam site.

ScamAdviser warns that while the MDW website does have a valid certificate and DNS Filter lists the site as safe, the owner of the website is using a service to hide their identity on WHOIS and the website appears to be hosted by a company with a bad reputation.

But once again, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office flat out says you should not send your money to this company and that they’re working to get the website removed.
