TEXICO, Ill. – Carl (Bob) Wilson, 91, of Texico, passed away at 7:02 a.m. Thursday, April 25, 2024.
He was born April 28, 1932, in Jefferson County, the son of Ben and Orra (Ellis) Wilson. Bob was the youngest of nine children. On June 21, 1959, he married Elizabeth Parker, and she survives.
Bob graduated from Wayne City High School in 1950, and served in the United States Army. He graduated from Missouri School of Mines, in Rolla, Missouri, in 1962, with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked for Boeing Aircraft in Seattle, Washington, as a Flight Test Engineer, where he was on many of the first flights of the Boeing 747 aircraft. In 1970, he moved back to Southern Illinois, where he was employed by General Radiator in Mt. Vernon, and then later retired from Sparton in Flora, where he was issued four patents. Some of the things Bob enjoyed were photography, farming, and genealogy.
In addition to his wife, Elizabeth Wilson of Texico, he is survived by one son, Irvin Wilson; two daughters, Michelle McClelland and husband Ralph, and Kaila Landy and husband Scott; grandchildren, Ryan McClelland and wife Trang, Parker McClelland, and Ellianna Landy; and great-granddaughter, Maeve McClelland.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings; and a grandson, Nicholas McClelland.
Graveside Funeral Services for Mr. Wilson will be held at 11:00 a.m., April 29, 2024, at Union Chapel Cemetery.
