FAYETTE COUNTY — The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and the Vandalia Police Department assisted the FBI with the federal arrest Wednesday of a 65-year-old Vandalia man on federal drug charges.

According to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, local agencies assisted the FBI, FBI Task Force, and members of the FBI SWAT team with a federal arrest warrant at 321 W. Randolph Street Vandalia.

As a result, Dennis W. Conway was taken into custody without incident.

Federal court documents show Conway was indicted on April 2 on charges of possession of fentanyl with the intent to distribute and possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute.

He’s due to appear for a detention hearing Friday at the federal court in East St. Louis.
