fog

SOUTHERN ILLINOIS — It appears the dense fog will stick around the listening area for a while, as the National Weather Service has extended the dense fog advisory in our area until noon Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service, the fog is expected to stick around until noon, with visibility sitting at one-quarter mile or less.

When driving in the fog, reduce your speed, roll down your window to listen for cars and emergency vehicles, use roadside reflectors or the white “fog line” on the side of the road to help you navigate curves and turns and to stay within your lane, turn off cruise control, and increase the distance between you and the car in front of you.

Be aware of animals and vehicles stopped on the side of the road, and use your low beams or fog lights when driving in the fog.
