MARION COUNTY –A former employee of One Hope United in Centralia pleaded guilty in Marion County Court Tuesday to the lesser two of four accounts accusing him of sexually abusing residents of the facility.
According to court records, 28-year-old Trevor Gyorkos was facing two Class 1 felony charges of Criminal Sexual Assault of a person between the ages of 13 and 17 under his supervision, and two Class 2 felonies for aggravated criminal sexual abuse. He pleaded guilty Tuesday to both of the Class 2 charges in exchange for the other two charges being dismissed.
Judge Mark Stedelin then sentenced Gyorkos to 7 years on each count to be served concurrently.
His October 2023 arrest stemmed from a report One Hope United made to the Department of Children and Family Services regarding a 16-year-old resident who claimed they had been sexually assaulted by a staff member.
The juvenile resident was interviewed by the Amy Center in Mt. Vernon where Gyorkos was named as a person of interest in the case.
