MCLEANSBORO — Charles Lavern Crow Sr., 67, of McLeansboro, IL passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at SSM Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, IL.  Charles was born on March 25, 1956 to Lewis Isaac “Tob” Crow and Mary Helen (Mayberry) Crow.  On June 2, 2021 he married Annette (Malone) Crow, who survives.

Charles worked in the oil field, worked for the railroad, was a grave digger, and worked as a landscaper for Gunter Mowing Service.  He loved fishing, and was known as the “Rebel of the McLeansboro Reservoir.”  He also professionally raced go karts, and was owner of Crow’s Racing Team.  He always drove the #41 kart.  He loved his children, grandchildren, and his dogs.

Charles is survived by his wife Annette Crow of McLeansboro, 3 daughters: Crystal Karnes & husband Johnny of McLeansboro, Felicia Burrow & significant other Todd Green, and April Prater & husband Josh of McLeansboro; a son Charlie Crow Jr. & significant other Tiffany Hutchcraft; 3 step-children: Mark Malone of Dahlgren, IL; Brian Malone & wife Andrea of Enfield, IL and George Malone of Fairfield, IL; 14 grandchildren: Stephanie Bellars, Steven Crow, Kelsi Barger, Ray Barger, Cody Burrow, Blake Burrow, Jazzabell Burrow, Oshean Prater, Richard Prater, Audrey Crow, Arabella Crow, Robert Hutchcraft, Clinton Hutchcraft, and Emi Hutchcraft; 9 step-grandchildren: Dawn Grimes, Duncan Riger, Lilly Malone, Shane Malone, Leeland Malone, Bennie Malone, Michael Malone, William Murphy, and Annabell Malone; 1 great granddaughter Callie Stevens, 4 other great grandchildren, 1 step-great grandson T’Jay Malone, 2 sisters: Barbara Harvey & husband Randy of Lawrenceburg, KY and Mary McMahon & husband Gary of McLeansboro, and a brother Robert Crow & wife Janice of McLeansboro.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lewis & Helen Crow, his first wife Ervanna Kay (Zoph) Crow, a daughter Michelle Crow, and 2 infant brothers.

In accordance with his wishes, Charles’ body will be donated to science.  A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
