CENTRALIA — Loretta Jane (Goss) Aaron, 86, of Centralia, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Fireside House Nursing Home in Centralia.
Jane was born July 24, 1937, the daughter of Roy Thomas Self and Dorothy A. (Smith) Self-Weber. She married Dale R. Goss may 5, 1956 in Los Angeles, CA and he preceded her in death on July 5, 1990. She later married Kenneth R. Aaron on July 25, 1998 in rural Clinton County and he preceded her in death on December 15, 2007.
Jane is survived by her children: Mike Goss and wife Gina of Kingman, AR, Patty Goss of Centralia, Peggy Musial and husband Stan of DuBois, and David Slayback and wife Stephanie of Wapella, IL; two sisters: Billie Jo (Campbell) Miller of Centralia, and Barbara Ann Scanlan of Centralia; 15 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Jane is preceded in death by her parents: Roy Self and Dorothy A. Self-Weber; Husbands: Dale R. Goss and Kenneth R. Aaron; daughters: Pamela Jane Washam and husband Larry, Paula Janel Slayback, granddaughter: Natalie Medina, sisters: June St. Peters and Betty Lee Smith; brother-in-law: George Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
Jane and her husband Dale lived in Las Vegas for a majority of their life with their children. They decided to move to Mt. Vernon, IL and owned and operated Dale’s Shell and Dale’s Mobile gas stations for several years. After selling both gas stations, they moved to Centralia with their children. Jane loved to travel the U.S. with Dale, trying to visit every state they could. She worked for the Department of Aging in Carlyle for over 10 years before retiring. She attended Church of Christ in Centralia. She loved animals, she would feed the neighborhood cats and always had puppies on her lap. Jane loved to garden and would enjoy many hours in her garden with her beautiful flowers and plants. Jane’s love for her family will always be cherished.
Funeral Services for Loretta Jane Aaron will be held Thursday, January 18, 2024 at 1:00 pm at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia with minister Stephen Nail officiating.
A visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Funeral Home on Thursday, January 18, 2024. In memory of Jane, memorial donations may be made to the Church of Christ in Centralia and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home at 235 North Sycamore Street in Centralia, Illinois 62801 (618) 532-3523, who is honored to be of service to the Aaron family.
