JEFFERSON COUNTY — Two Woodlawn men were arrested Monday morning on drug and weapons charges after the Mt. Vernon Police Department/ Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division assisted the U.S. Marshal’s Service Fugitive Task Force serving an arrest warrant in Woodlawn.
According to the sheriff’s office, around 10:30 Monday morning, the Marshal’s Service responded to 212 North Main Street in Woodlawn, to serve an arrest warrant on 40-year-old Brian Dennis. He was located in the living room and arrested.
The owner of the home, 43-year-old Marc Anthony Baker was also reportedly located in the living room of the home and detained, while Baker’s juvenile son was found in the home. The boy was ultimately taken into DCFS protective custody after he reportedly tested positive for methamphetamine.
When clearing the home, a bag of suspected ecstasy pills was discovered in plain view in the bathroom of the home and multiple baggies were found floating in the toilet.
A search warrant was subsequently obtained and the Narcotics Division began a search of the home. The search reportedly revealed multiple handguns, baggies and a scale, suspected ecstasy, drug paraphernalia, methamphetamine, surveillance cameras, and approximately 2,400 grams of liquid retrieved from Baker’s toilet that tested positive for the presence of meth.
Dennis was booked into the Jefferson County Jail on his out-of-county warrant, as well as new charges of being an armed habitual criminal, possession of a firearm by a felony, and possession of ammunition by a felon.
Baker was booked into the Jefferson County Jail on charges of meth-related child endangerment, aggravated possession with the intent to distribute over 900 grams of meth, and obstruction of justice by destruction of evidence.
