JEFFERSON COUNTY — Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies received a report just before 6 p.m. Saturday to a report of a vehicle stolen from Washington County being tracked in Jefferson County.

According to Chief Deputy Blaine Uhls, when deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver sped from the scene. He says the vehicle was reported as stolen from the juvenile driver’s parents and had two juvenile passengers who had been reported as runaways.

Uhls says the pursuit traveled westbound on Illinois Route 15 to Ashley before turning north on U.S. Route 51. The vehicle then drove off into a bean field in Washington County before veering back onto the road and crashing in Jefferson County.

The three juveniles were released to the custody of their parents or guardians. No injuries were reported.
