UPDATE:
JEFFERSON COUNTY —Authorities have released more information on the Tuesday arrest of 23-year-old Collin Sechrest, of Dix, following a lengthy police pursuit across Jefferson County.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, detectives assigned to the MVPD/JCSO Joint Narcotics Division were conducting an investigation into illegal narcotics sales in Jefferson County.
During the investigation detectives reportedly learned Sechrest was allegedly transporting and selling illegal drugs.
Detectives located and attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Sechrest who was driving a Ford pickup truck on North Illinois Highway 37 which led to a pursuit through Bonnie, Ina, north Interstate 57, eastbound Interstate 64, and concluded on North Illinois 37 at which time Sechrest’s truck reportedly struck a deputy’s vehicle.
No one was injured and Secchrest was taken into custody. Detectives allegedly located methamphetamine, a loaded .32 caliber revolver, and US currency. At the time of the pursuit, Sechrest was on parole.
He was taken to the Jefferson County Jail and was formally charged Wednesday in Jefferson County Court with three Class X felony charges of Armed Violence, and Class X felony delivery of between 15 and 100 grams of methamphetamine. Bond in the case remains to be set.
JEFFERSON COUNTY — A 23-year-old Dix man was booked into the Jefferson County Jail on multiple charges Tuesday following a high-speed pursuit with local law enforcement.
Collin Sechrest was booked on charges of aggravated fleeing police at more than 21 miles an hour over the speed limit, armed violence, delivery of between 15 and 100 grams of methamphetamine, delivery of less than 5 grams of meth, possession of narcotics, possession of a controlled substance, being a felon in possession of a firearm, and violation of parole.
The arrest was a joint effort between the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and the Mt. Vernon Police Department, that included Sechrest taking deputies on a pursuit in the Bonnie area.

Sechrest remains in the Jefferson County Jail awaiting the formal filing of charges and setting of bond today in court.
