BONNIE, Ill. — Marilyn Sue Jones, 80, of Bonnie, Illinois, passed away at 4:30 am July 20, 2023 at home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born September 6, 1942 in Nason, Illinois to the late William and Alice (Gower) Dent. Marilyn married Dire Jones, Jr. on March 26, 1961 in Waltonville, Illinois. They were blessed with 62 years of marriage.” She was the best thing that ever happened to me.” – Dire Jones, Jr.

In addition to her beloved husband, Marilyn is survived by her children, Diane Leffler and husband, Randy of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Travis Jones and wife, Penny of Scheller, and Melinda Jones and significant other, John Farrow of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Justin Leffler and wife, Lindsey, Bryce Jones and wife, Harlie, Danara Simmons and husband, Luke, Shanae Jones and significant other, Kamdan Cox, and Allie Riley; great-grandchildren, Kaylee Leffler, Elsie Jones, and Elena Jones; sister-in-law, Marcella Dent of Bonnie; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her grandson, Michael Leffler; and siblings, Wanda Lee Reynolds, Earl Dent, Leon Dent, Fred Dent, Jack Dent, and Bob Dent.

Marilyn’s family meant everything to her, just as she did to her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She will be deeply missed.

A Visitation will be held Sunday, July 23, 2023 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. A Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 pm with Reverend Don Rector and Mr. Justin Leffler officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn, Illinois.
