DIX. Ill. — Carl Ray Kennedy, 64, of Dix, Illinois, passed away at 7:57 pm July 18, 2023 at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mount Vernon, Illinois.

He was born August 21, 1958 in Mount Vernon to Billy Kennedy and Mary (Capps) Lemay. Carl is survived by his father, Billy Kennedy and wife, Linda of Mount Vernon; fiancée, Lisa Hart of Dix; children, Brittney Ayers and husband, Scott of Tennessee, Lindsey Keck and husband, Rodney of Alhambra, Illinois, and Jesse Hart and significant other, Paige Laird of New Baden, Illinois; grandchildren, Dax Keck, Knox Ayers, and Rett Ayers; siblings, Anthony Pendleton and wife, Pamela of Tolono, Illinois, Dawn Bieda and husband, Dave of Union Grove, Wisconsin, Debbie Powell of Charleston, Illinois, and Bobby Lemay of Plainfield, Indiana; and many nieces and nephews.

Carl was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Lemay; and son, Brandon Matthew Kennedy.

Carl worked as a truck driver for Beelman Trucking for many years. He was a lifetime member of the Mount Vernon Gun and Sportsman’s Club. Carl was an avid Saint Louis Cardinals fan. He enjoyed being outdoors and could often be found fishing and hunting. Carl had a wonderful sense of humor and loved spending time with family and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, July 29, 2023 at 2:00 pm at the Mount Vernon Gun and Sportsman’s Club in Mount Vernon.
