MARION COUNTY — Marion County prosecutors will try a 17-year-old juvenile as an adult on charges stemming from an April shooting at Laura Leake Park in Centralia.
Bond has been set at $300,000 for Davion Meredith who turned 18 just three days after the shooting that sent two people to the hospital with injuries.
He was arrested along with 18-year-old Shavonte Samuels, of Ashley, in connection with the shooting incident. Both defendants are charged with two counts of Class X felony aggravated battery with a weapon and Class 1 aggravated discharge of a firearm. Bond for Samuels has been set at $500,000.
Initially, Meredith was taken to the Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center on the charges. But since his case has been moved to adult court, he’s been transferred to the Marion County Jail, where Samuels is also being held.
