MOUNT VERNON — Willis Robert “Bob” Williamson, 77, of Mt. Vernon passed away on Sunday afternoon, June 25, 2023, at the Crossroads Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

Bob was born in Jefferson County, IL on January 13, 1946, the son of Willis Reed & Wanda (Gowler) Williamson. He married Patricia “Patty” Henderson on October 15, 1982.

Mr. Williamson was a Farmer at heart and did that for years. He also had cattle & livestock over the years. He started out Bob Williamson Ag Hauling in 1975, and he owned & operated Patty’s Kerr McGee on South 10th Street for 17 years. He worked at Henderson Trucking as a dispatcher & manager in the 1980s. After that, he was farming and also took over farming for his dad. He retired from farming in 2018. After retirement, he loved to travel to Arizona, Texas & Florida. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Opdyke Masonic Lodge.

Mr. Williamson is survived by his wife Patricia “Patty” Williamson of Mt. Vernon; s Nelson Reid Williamson & wife Stacie of Opdyke; four grandchildren, Nathaniel Reed Williamson & girlfriend Kyla Palazzolo, Hayden Allen Williamson, Mason Hall Dickhut, Riley Patrick Dickhut

He loved his four furry babies Izzy, Roxie, Laramie & Happy, and loved taking them for rides on his side by side.

Mr. Williamson was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 30th at the Johnston Funeral Home in Ina. Burial will be in the Bethel Memorial Cemetery in Mt. Vernon. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9:30 a.m. until funeral time on Friday at the funeral home.
