ODIN — A 58-year-old Odin man was killed in a two-vehicle crash around 7:30 Thursday night on Odin Road just south of Odin.

According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Jason Alsept was pronounced dead at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia where he was taken after being extricated from his vehicle.

Crash reports say Alsept was traveling northbound on Odin Road at a high rate of speed when he ran into the rear of a pickup truck in front of him driven by 30-year-old Blake Schilling of Odin.

Alsept’s vehicle suffered heavy front-end damage and he had to be extricated from his vehicle before being transported by ambulance to the hospital in Centralia.

An emergency room physician pronounced Alept dead from multiple blunt force injuries suffered in the crash.

Schilling declined hospital treatment.
