CENTRALIA — Michael “Mike” J. Hoerchler, 73, of Centralia, passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family.

Mike was born May 16, 1949, in Belleville, IL, the son of Harold Hoerchler and Norma (Coughlan) Hoerchler. He married Shirley Jean Wolters on February 6, 1971, and she preceded him in death on March 17, 2019.

Mike is survived by his three children: Sherri Hoerchler-Spillman and husband Brandon of Williston, FL, Shelly Hoerchler-Johnson of Belleville, and Jason Hoerchler and wife Lindsey of Centralia; seven grandchildren: Ryan Whitt of Aviston, Tyler Johnson of Belleville, Dylan Bucci of Williston, FL, Samantha Spillman of Williston, FL, Kelsey Spillman of Williston, FL, Emily Hoerchler and Jacob Hoerchler both of Centralia; brothers and sisters: Robert Hoerchler of OR, Timothy Hoerchler and wife Diane of New Baden, Marian Hoerchler of Colorado Springs, CO, Bonnie Wells and husband Lou of Chatham, Gordon Hoerchler and wife Anita of New Baden, and Colleen Hoerchler of New Baden; brother-in-law: Edward Wolters, Jr. of Albers; two sisters-in-law: Diane Wolters of Albers and Tammy Enfield and husband Danny of Tallahassee, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
Mike was preceded in death by his wife: Shirley Hoerchler; father and mother: Harold and Norma Hoerchler; brothers: Martin “Marty” Hoerchler and Theodore Hoerchler; a brother-in-law: James “Jimmy” Wolters; and a sister-in-law: Mary Jo Massey.

Mike was known for being an outdoorsman, and he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He liked to watch the NASCAR races. He enjoyed “tinkering” with old and new projects. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Per Mike’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded, and a Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, December 12, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia with Father Steven Pautler officiating. Military rites will be accorded at the Funeral Home on Monday.

A visitation will be held Monday morning from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
