Alva “Butch” V. Shehorn, 76, of Texico, Illinois, passed away at 2:44 AM on November 26, 2022 at Carbondale Memorial Hospital in Carbondale, Illinois. He was born on June 22, 1946 in Nason to the late James and Sarah Shehorn (Carlton). Alva married Francine Shehorn (Lowery) on August 29, 1969. They were blessed with 53 years of marriage.  Butch is survived by his children, Vince Shehorn and wife, Judy of Mount Vernon, Jasen Shehorn of Texico, Shawn Crunk and wife, Lee Ann of Texico; daughter-in-law, Kim Shehorn; sisters, Theresa Yanez and husband, Roy and Madlyn Bradford and husband, Sonny; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by close friend and cousin, Roger Ellis and wife Jan of Marion; brother-in-laws, Charles William Lowery Jr, and Gale Lowery; and sister-in-law, Diane Shehorn.In addition to his parents, Butch was preceded in death by his son, Wes Shehorn Sr., grandson, Wes Shehorn Jr and brother, Neal Shehorn. Butch owned and operated Butch’s Trucking for many years. He was a Veteran of the US Army and served in Vietnam. Butch also served on Field Township Board of Trustees. He was a member of Disabled Veterans Chapter 28 in Mount Vernon and was a member of Mount Vernon American Legion Post 141. Butch also enjoyed riding motorcycles, drag racing and classic cars. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. A Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 29, 2022,  from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois . A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, November 30, 2022,  at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Chaplain Ernie Collins officiating. Full Military Rites will be performed by American Legion Post 141. Memorials may be made in Butch’s honor to Jefferson County Animal Shelter or American Legion Post 141.
