CENTRALIA — Judy Marlene Batson, 71, of Centralia, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at Carlyle Healthcare.

She was born February 16, 1951, in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of James Chadd and Jessie (Leight) Catlin.

Judy is survived by her three sons: Kevin Batson of Walnut Hill, Robert Starner and Alicia of Sedalia, Missouri, and James “Jimmy” Starner and Shelia of Alton; Ten grandchildren: Abby Jaurez of Salem, Gavin Batson of Walnut Hill, Maelynn Batson of Centralia, Katie Learn of Davenport, Iowa, Emily Hollars, Breanne Starner and fiance Ben Geary, Joshua Hollars all of Sedelia, Missouri, Devin Starner of Carlyle, Collin Starner and Julian of Carlyle, and Tori Starner of Wood River, Illinois; three great-grandchildren; a brother: Jody Chadd of South Carolina; a sister: Sherri Fusselman of Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: Jimmy Chadd, Jerry Fusselman, and a special friend: James Rippy.

Judy graduated with her LPN from Kaskaskia College, which she was very proud of achieving. She worked at Brookside Nursing Home in Centralia. She enjoyed watching the Game Show Channel and Soap Operas. Judy was also an avid animal lover of dogs and cats. She cherished her family and friends.

Funeral services for Judy Batson will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, October 20, 2022, at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia with Pastor Steve Upchurch officiating. A visitation will be held from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home Thursday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Centralia Humane Society and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home and Cremation Services at 235 North Sycamore Street Centralia, Illinois 62801, 618-532-3523, who is honored to be of service to the Batson family.
