CENTRALIA — Tammie Ely, 62, of Centralia, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia.
She was born November 2, 1959, in Granite City, the daughter of Walter and Elsie Young.
Tammie is survived by her children: Shannon Burlingame of Sorento, Jammie Melton and husband Christopher of Centralia, Beth Ely of Centralia, Brian Ely of Centralia, and Justin Ely and Amber Miller of Centralia; 12 grandchildren: Tiffany Foutch, Jacob Foutch, Jordan Curtis, Jeb Curtis, Brooklyn Garcia-Ely, Lilyana Ely, Madysin Ely, Jordyn Ely, Angel Ely, Remmington Ely, Blake Mummel, and Briley Redfern; three great-grandchildren: Adilynn Gallatin, Riley Scott, and Oakley Morgan; a brother: Earl Sickbert of Indiana; two sisters: Penny Sickbert-Jacobs of Ohio and Tammy Huntsman of Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Tammie worked as a bartender at Fred and Mary’s in Wamac for many years. She enjoyed fishing and sitting on the porch in the mornings, drinking coffee and watching the birds. She cherished her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, October 21, 2022, at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home and Cremation Services at 235 North Sycamore Street Centralia, Illinois 62801, 618-532-3523, who is honored to be of service to the Ely family.
