JEFFERSON COUNTY — A 46-year-old Dix man has been identified as the murder victim of a shooting incident Thursday night at the Rolling Meadows Trailer Park in Dix and two people from Evansville, Indiana have been charged in connection with his death.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, around 6 p.m. Thursday sheriff’s deputies along with Mt. Vernon Police officers responded to the home on a report of a shooting. They discovered resident Cadias Jackson was shot multiple times. Deputies rendered aid until EMS personnel arrived and took over care. Jackson was transported to Crossroads Hospital, where he later died.
DIX, Ill. — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a Thursday night murder in Dix.
According to the sheriff’s office, with the assistance of the Mt. Vernon Police Department, they responded just before 6 p.m. Thursday to a report of a man shot at Rolling Meadows Trailer Park on North Highway 37 in Dix.
Officers and Deputies arrived on the scene and located the victim, who was transported to Crossroads Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. He later died from those injuries.
A suspect vehicle was reported to have left the scene after the shooting and was soon located by a sheriff’s deputy on Salem Road in Mt. Vernon near North 11th Street.
Assisted by the Mt. Vernon Police Department, the sheriff’s deputy took three adult suspects into custody and they were transported to the Jefferson County Jail.
The names of the victim and the suspects are not being released at this time. However, two Evansville, Indiana residents were booked into the Jefferson County Jail late Thursday night on murder charges.
According to court records, 23-year-old Treyaveon Massie was charged Friday in Jefferson County Court with three counts first-degree murder and 43-year-old Retha McIntire are currently being held in jail awaiting the formal filing of charges and the setting of bail.
