Barbara A. (Howington) Breeden-Sledge, 83, of Mt. Vernon, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at 5:00 p.m., at her home, with her family at her side.  Barbara was of the Baptist faith.

She was born November 5, 1938, in Gibson County, Tennessee, the daughter of Robert and Mary Viola (Jones) Howington.  On June 28, 1955, in Mississippi, she married Thomas C. Breeden, and he preceded her in death on November 1, 1992.  She later married Thomas E. Sledge on June 18, 2003, in Mt. Vernon, and he preceded her in death on July 16, 2021.

She is survived by her daughter, Jacqueline Ellis and husband David of Mt. Vernon; granddaughter, Alicia Yaeger and husband Michael of Mt. Vernon; and great-grandson, Seth Yaeger of Evansville, Indiana.

She was preceded in death by Thomas C. Breeden, and Thomas E.  Sledge;   her parents, Robert and Mary Viola (Jones) Howington;  two beautiful sisters;  several loving in-laws;  many precious nieces and nephews;  and many dear friends.

Local funeral services for Mrs. Breeden-Sledge will be held at 5:00 p.m., Thursday, September 29, 2022, at Osborn Funeral Home in Dix, with April Nealy officiating.  Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m., until the hour of service, Thursday, September 29, 2022, at the funeral home.  Funeral services will then be held in Trenton, Tennessee, with Shelton Funeral Home entrusted with those arrangements.  Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery, in Trenton, Tennessee, with Van Simmons officiating.

Due to funeral services being held out of state, the family requests that no local floral arrangements be sent.  Memorial gifts may be made to Oakland Cemetery, and will be accepted at the service, or by mail to the Osborn Funeral Home, P.O.
