CENTRALIA — Sandra Betters, 73, of Centralia, passed away Friday, September 9, 2022, at her home.

She was born July 31, 1949, Potsdam, New York, the daughter of Beatrice (Page) Chapple. She married James “Jim” Betters on May 20, 1972 in Plattsburgh, New York and he preceded her in death on December 6, 2018.

She is survived by her two sons: Adam Betters of St. Louis, Missouri and Alan Betters and wife Angela of Centralia; three grandchildren: Preslee Betters, Parker Betters, and Brynden Edward Coultas; three sisters and a brother: Carol Daniels and husband Clifford, Cathy Chapple, and Bruce Chapple and wife Dawn of New York; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Eric Hinson of Oklahoma and Carol Jones and husband Steve of California; several nieces and nephews; and family friend: Debbie Coultas of Carlyle.
She was preceded in death by her mother: Beatrice Chapple, mother and father-in-law: Gloria and Irvin Hinson, and a brother and sister-in-law: Mike  and Karen Hinson.
Sandra was a homemaker for most of her life.

She enjoyed baking and having “cooking shows” with her granddaughters and playing baseball with her grandson. Her grandkids were her world and there wasn’t much she didn’t let them do! She loved her family and friends very much. Sandra would never miss giving a Birthday or Holiday Card to any of her family and friends.

Per Sandra’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and a Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 24, 2022, at Eternity Baptist Church in Centralia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home at 235 North Sycamore Street Centralia, Illinois 62801, 618-532-3523, who is honored to be of service to the Betters family.
