MARION, IL — Marion High School was placed on lockdown Tuesday afternoon following the discovery of an anonymous threatening note directed at the high school. The school district posted on its Facebook page that the note was found in one of the restrooms indicating that at 1:20 p.m. Tuesday a group of armed gunmen would enter the high school. The note was brought to the office by a student and the administration immediately contacted law enforcement.
Marion Police immediately sent extra officers to the high school as a precautionary measure as well as placed the the high school on lockdown.
As a precautionary measure all other Unit #2 Schools were placed on a soft lockdown even though the threat was specific to Marion High School.
