MARION COUNTY — A 29-year-old Rosemont man was sentenced to 15 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after he pleaded guilty Thursday in Marion County Court to felony delivery of meth and fentanyl.

Brian Coleman

Brian Coleman was arrested in April on charges he was in possession of between 15 and 100 grams of meth and between 15 and 100 grams fentanyl and that he was also in possession of both substances with the intent to deliver.

He was initially facing two Class X felonies for the delivery charges, as well as Class 1 felonies for the possession. Coleman pleaded guilty Thursday to amended Class 1 charges of delivery of between 1 and 15 grams of methamphetamine and between 1 and 15 grams of fentanyl, with the five other felony charges in the case being dismissed. He was sentenced to 15 years on each count to be served concurrently.

At the time of his April arrest, Coleman was free on bond from a May 5, 2021, arrest for which he was charged in Marion County Court with Class X felony delivery of between 100 and 400 grams of meth and Class 2 felony being a felon in possession of a firearm. Both charges, in that case, were dismissed per Thursday’s plea agreement.

Colman will receive day-for-day credit for the time he’s served in the Marion County Jail, and was recommended for substance abuse treatment while serving his sentence. Resident Judge Mark Stedelin ordered over $2,000 of the $7,500 cash bail Coleman has previously posted be applied to his fines, fees and assessments.
