CLINTON COUNTY, IL — A 34-year-old Centralia man is in the Clinton County Jail following his arrest Sunday for alleged sexual assault. Larnelle Suggs was arrested by Centralia police following an investigation into an alleged incident earlier this month.

Suggs was charged Tuesday morning in Clinton County Court with Class 1 felony criminal sexual assault by force. Judge Joel Powless set bond for Suggs at $35,000 and ordered him to have no contact with the alleged victim, or her residence. A preliminary hearing in the case was scheduled for July 20, along with a first appearance with his court appointed attorney. The case is set to track with a major traffic case from earlier this month in Clinton County charging Suggs with misdemeanor speeding between 16 and 34 miles over the speed limit.

He’s also cited with operating an uninsured motor vehicle, operating a vehicle with suspended registration and a classification violation.
