SANDOVAL, IL — A young man running from Virginia to California in an effort to raise money and awareness for the Wounded Warriors project has been making his way through our area.

Andrew Lee camped just outside of Sandoval Sunday after running 35 miles through the heat and humidity that has enveloped the area.

Making his way across Highway 50, Andrew had to walk through mud and water Saturday in Flora, where police escorted him through town, and paid for his food and hotel room.

After camping out near Sandoval Sunday, Andrew was spotted near Shattuc Monday morning as he continued his 3,000 mile run from Virginia Beach to San Diego, California.
