Mario Daniel Hernandez, Sr, 77, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away February 16, 2022 at his residence.

He was born July 21, 1944 in Taxco, Mexico to the late Ascension Hernandez and Rebecca (Alarcon) Hernandez. Mario married Irene (Lovin) Hernandez on July 17, 1977 at the United Methodist Children’s Home. In addition to his beloved wife, Mario is survived by his daughter, Crystal Dawn Marlow and husband, Travis of Mount Vernon; son, Mario Daniel Hernandez, Jr. of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Devin Marlow, Nathaniel Marlow, and Jacob Marlow; brother, Saul Hernandez Alarcon and wife, Alejandra; sister, Judith Alarcon Hernandez; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Mario served in the Mexican military. He worked at Lovin’s Distributing and Battery Specialist for many years. Mario will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Visitation will be held Sunday, February 20, 2022 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Newell Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. A Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Bethel Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Mario’s honor to the Hernandez Family, in care of Irene Hernandez.
