JUNCTION CITY, IL — A Junction City family lost almost everything in a Saturday afternoon fire that claimed the lives of several of their pets and heavily damaged their home.

According to the Sandoval Fire Department, they responded around 4 o’clock Saturday afternoon to a mobile home at 1007 Adams Street in Junction City. Upon their arrival, firefighters found heavy flames at one end of the home that were spreading quickly through the home. The residents had left the home earlier in the day due to a power outage in the area. The State Fire Marshal was called to assist in determining the cause of the fire which is not suspicious and believed to be electrical in nature. Due to the heavy fire conditions and long driveway, Sandoval received mutual aid from the Centralia Fire Protection District, Odin Fire, and Patoka Fire which brought a tanker to assist with water supply.

Firefighters remained on the scene for about three hours.
