(BENTON, IL) — A Pinckneyville man was sentenced in federal court for a methamphetamine charges yesterday. Thirty-four-year-old Christopher Pelate pled guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and was sentenced to 110 months in federal prison to be followed by three years’ supervised release and fined $200. According to a press release from United States Attorney James Porter, evidence at the plea sentencing hearing indicated that Pelate was involved with others in the manufacture and distribution of methamphetamine in the form of ice, which is meth with a purity of at least 80 percent. Pelate was found responsible for distribution of 35 grams of ice and 7.78 grams of pseudoephedrine. The offense occurred between 2013 and June of 2015 in Perry, Jackson and Randolph Counties. Pelate is the ninth co-defendant to be sentenced in the conspiracy. The investigation is ongoing and being conducted by the Randolph, Jackson and Perry County Sheriff’s Offices, several local police departments, the Illinois State Police Methamphetamine Response Team, and the Drug Enforcement Agency.
