(VANDALIA, IL) — A 62-year-old Vandalia man was arrested Thursday on nearly 20 felony counts related to child pornography, following a multi-agency operation. Manuel D. Prater was arrested after a search warrant was served at his rural Vandalia home by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, Vandalia Police Department, and Illinois Attorney General’s Office, with help from the Fayette County State’s Attorney’s Office. Prater is charged with seven counts Class X felony dissemination of child pornography, and 10 counts Class 2 felony possession of child pornography. Each Class X charge is punishable by between 6 and 30 years in prison if convicted, and each Class 2 count is punishable by between 3 and 7 years in prison if convicted. Prater was taken to the Fayette County Jail where he remains awaiting the formal filing of charges and the setting of bail.
