Billy Joe Moore, Sr., 83, of Centralia, Illinois, passed away at 4:35 P.M. October 15, 2021 at Stone Bridge Nursing and Rehabilitation in Benton, Illinois.
He was born September 25, 1938. Billy was the third son and ninth child of William L. Moore and Helen C. “Koeing” Moore in Evansville, Indiana.In October of 1968 he met Jo Ann Nally, then on March 17, 1961 they were married in Junction, Illinois.
She passed away on November 14, 2014 after fifty three and a half years of marriage. She was his soul mate.Billy is survived by one son, Billy J. Moore, Jr.of Benton, Illinois; four daughters, Brenda Borga of West Frankfort, Illinois, Deborah Summers, of Indianapolis, Indiana, Michelle Lee of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Cynthia Moore of Edwardsville, Illinois; nine grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, five sisters, Mary Jo Deal, Peggy Reed, Jennie Barnbridge, Karen Robling, and Shirley Cox, all of Evansville, Indiana; and beloved pet “Poncho”, a long haired Dachshund.Billy was preceded in death by parents, and siblings, Charles L. Moore, Owen P. Moore, Richand Moore, Helen Schmitt, Betty McKinney, and Dorothy Smith.Billy was of the Catholic Faith.
He served in the United States Navy from 1955 to 1960. Billy was a Meat Cutter for Vic Emge Wholesale Meats from 1960 to 1965, Great Scot Supermarkets from 1965 to 1968, and Kroger from 1968 to 1993. He also worked at Walgreen’s Distribution Center from 1993 to 1999, where he retired on April 1, 1999. Billy and Jo Ann loved going to craft shows in a three state area from 1991 until 2004. Jo Ann worked at long John Silvers until her falling health made her retire. They loved to spend time with family and friends, but most of all they loved to spend time with each other. Billy and Jo Ann were a matched pair and they both will be missed dearly.
As per Billy’s wishes, he will be cremated and their ashes will be mixed together and buried together in St. Ann Cemetery in Morganfield, Kentucky. As in death as life, they will be together forever. A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois.
