Kay E. Staats, 73, of McLeansboro, Illinois, passed away October 1, 2021 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro.

She was born November 15, 1947 in Eldorado, Illinois to the late Joseph and Charlene (Parr) Mezo.

Kay is survived by her children, Virginia Staats, Frank Staats, and Tracy Yanez; grandchildren, Kristin Darnell and significant other, Steven Watters, Karen Sennott and husband, Othiel, Lisa Yanez, Nicholas Yanez, and Frank Staats and significant other, Marissa McCarthy; great-grandchildren, Asher Adcock, Nicolette Adcock, and Hayden Staats; and sisters, Rena Blankenship, Flora Mezo, and Brenda Bourgeois.In addition to her parents, Kay was preceded in death by her daughter, Cheri Sue Staats. Kay enjoyed poetry and artwork, especially drawing.

She loved attending her church and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Kay will be greatly missed by all who knew and adored her.

A Visitation will be held Saturday, October 9, 2021 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 2:00 pm.
