FRANKLIN COUNTY, IL — A Marion resident was killed in a single-vehicle crash Friday afternoon in Franklin County.

According to Franklin County Chief Deputy Kyle Bacon, the sheriff’s office received a 911 call around 3:40 p.m. reporting the crash on North Thompsonville Road, a half-mile north of State Highway 34. Deputies and EMS/Fire soon arrived and located the crash scene. The investigation revealed that the involved vehicle was traveling south on North Thompsonville Road before leaving the west side of the roadway and striking a guardrail. As a result, the vehicle overturned and the driver, 19-year-old Silas Jones of Marion, was ejected from the vehicle. Jones was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by the Franklin County Coroner’s Office.
