JEFFERSON COUNTY, IL — A Services Committee has approved a recommendation to the board for an amended 3-year contract with a local ambulance service for 911 emergencies in Jefferson County. Months of discussion came to a head during the county board’s monthly meeting in May when the vote to renew a contract with Litton’s Ambulance Service was tied at six on each side.
Because the vote failed, the contract was sent to the Services Committee for further discussion. Board Chairman Cliff Lindemann who was overseeing the meeting explained what was different in this contract with Litton’s compared to previous years.
The contract with Litton’s only requires they keep 2 ambulances in the county on-call at all times. Angie Litton says she schedules her services based on multiple factors.
The contract will now go back to the full board for final approval during its regular meeting Monday at the Jefferson County Courthouse.
