Lewis Edward Lackey, 89, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 10:05 am March 5, 2021 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon. He was born January 20, 1932 in Burkesville, Kentucky to the late Bradford and Nellie (Gibbons) Lackey. Lewis married Judith Mabel (Baum) Lackey on July 14, 1962 in Aurora, Illinois and she survives in Mount Vernon.

In addition to his beloved wife of fifty-eight years, Lewis is survived by his two daughters, Barbara Edmonds and Terri Coyle (Michael Smith); siblings, Regina O’Banion and Hubert (Barbara) Lackey; four grandchildren, William Bauer, Jamie (Billy) Shelton, Chad (Vanessa) Coyle, and Justin (Micha) Coyle; seven great-grandchildren, Chase Hawkins, Rase Hawkins, Jase Hawkins, Destiny Bauer, Dusty Bauer, Carson Coyle, and Kaylee Coyle; three step-great-grandchildren, Cameron Bayer, Bentley Shelton, and Graclyn Shelton; and several nieces and nephews .

In addition to his parents, Lewis was preceded in death by his son, Michael Lackey; siblings, Johnny Lackey,  Reba Tate, Rosie Thompson, Gillam Lackey, Charles Lackey, Tommy Lackey, and Allen Lackey; and great-grandchild, Dakota Bauer.

Lewis worked as a truck driver for many years and will be missed by those who loved him.
