Theresa M. Morris, age 90, of Springfield, Illinois, formerly of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 1:30 am March 4, 2021. She was born May 20, 1930 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Bernard and Madeline (Klein) Bierbaum. Theresa was married to Robert “Bob” Morris on Saturday, October 1, 1949 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Louisville, Kentucky. They were blessed with 65 years of marriage before he preceded her in death in 2014.

Theresa was a loving mother to: Rebecca Raney and husband, Rob of Jackson, Missouri, Richard Morris and wife, Diane of Rock Hill, South Carolina, and Robin Holding and husband, James of Springfield, Illinois; dear grandmother to Craig Raney and wife, Ashley of Jackson, Missouri, Christopher Raney of Dieterich, Illinois, Macie Morris and Mariah Morris, both of Rock Hill, South Carolina, and Justin Holding of Springfield, Illinois; and cherished great-grandmother to Cason Raney and Colbie Raney, both of Jackson, Missouri, and Embry Raney and Lennon Raney, both of Bluford, Illinois, all of whom filled her heart with love, joy, and pride.

Theresa is also survived by her siblings-in-law, Dorothea Jenkins and husband, Guy of Clarksville, Indiana, Phillip Morris and wife, Donna of New Albany, Indiana, and Charlotte Morris of Jeffersonville, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and loving husband, Theresa was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth M. Bierbaum of Silver Point, Tennessee.

Because of her husband’s job, the family was transferred from Louisville, Kentucky, to Mount Vernon, Illinois in 1961. While her children were growing up, she was a stay-at-home mom for several years. She returned to work in a secretarial position at a local church. When General Tire built a tire manufacturing plant in Mount Vernon, she applied for a job as a secretary and was hired in 1974. She was employed at General Tire for 20 years until her retirement in 1994.

Theresa, Bob, and their family (along with their faithful dog, Shaft) enjoyed their frequent camping and fishing trips in their travel trailer. They visited and enjoyed many beautiful and exciting places during their camping days.

In honor of Theresa’s wishes, she will be cremated and no public services will be held. Her ashes will be placed next to her husband’s grave at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn, Illinois. A Funeral Mass will be conducted at Saint Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Mount Vernon, Illinois at a later date. Memorials may be made to Saint Mary’s Catholic School in Mount Vernon, Illinois or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Theresa will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She will be joining Bob, and they will be watching over us from Heaven.
