CREAL SPRINGS, IL – A Johnston City woman was killed in an ATV accident Saturday night in Williamson County.

According to Illinois State Police, the accident happened around 6:20 p.m. when 20-year-old James N. Holmes of Creal Springs was driving his ATV south on Illinois 166 – one mile south of Free Silver Lane south of Creal Springs – when for an unknown reason, his vehicle overturned in the roadway ejecting him and his passenger, 22-year-old Chelsey J. McKinney of Johnston City.

Holmes and McKinney were taken by ambulance to an area hospital with serious injuries. McKinney was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The ISP Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate the crash. No further information is available at this time.
