WEST FRANKFORT, IL — Firefighters from Benton, Marion and Zeigler helped West Frankfort firefighters put out a house fire with a ruptured gas line early Tuesday morning on Skelton Street in West Frankfort.

The house was already fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived around 6 a.m.

An older couple living at the home got out unharmed.

The roof of the home also fell in on firefighters working to put out the blaze. First responders were not around the home when the roof fell. No injures were reported. The fire is under investigation.

Ameren was called in to make repairs to the gas line.
