SPRINGFIELD, IL — Congresswoman Mary Miller from east central Illinois is facing backlash after comments about Adolph Hitler.
Miller was addressing a crowd at the “Moms for America” rally Wednesday in front of the U.S. Capitol.
Miller released a statement Friday saying, “I sincerely apologize for any harm my words caused and regret using a reference to one of the most evil dictators in history to illustrate the dangers that outside influences can have on our youth. This dark history should never be repeated and parents should be proactive to instill what is good, true, right, and noble into their children’s hearts and minds. I’m passionately pro-Israel and I will always be a strong advocate and ally of the Jewish community”. She was sworn in Sunday to replace the retiring John Shimkus in the 15th Congressional District.
Governor J.B. Pritzker did not hold back when addressing the comments at a news conference.
The 15th district includes Marion, Fayette, Effingham, Clinton, Washington, Clay, and Wayne Counties among others.
