Charles P. Phillips, 82, of Centralia, passed away on Monday, November 23, 2020, at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital, in Centralia.
He was born in Vernon, Texas, on May 3, 1938, to Clarence and Mildred (Baker) Phillips. He married Janet Cook and they divorced. He then married Patsy (Wilson) Karcher, and they were blessed with 36 years of marriage.
He is survived by his wife and sons, Mark Phillips of Florida and Brad Phillips of Centralia; brother Bruce of Casper, Wyoming; step-daughter Lynn Fritz of Marengo, Illinois; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and a step-daughter, Brandi Karcher.
He graduated from Centralia High School in 1956. Charles then worked at Illinois Central Car Shops, then the City of Centralia, and retired from there in 2000.
He enjoyed going to Downtown Lounge each morning with friends, doing his yard work, and was happy operating any equipment. He was a Protestant.
Per his wishes, Charles will be cremated, and no public services will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to New Home Cemetery, or to a charity of the donor’s choice. Memorials will be received by mail to the Osborn Funeral Home in Dix, who is assisting the family with arrangements.
