Lillie M. Marlow, 87, of Dix, passed away Thursday, November 19, 2020, at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital, in Mt. Vernon.
She was born June 18, 1933, in Kell, the daughter of Oscar E. and Jessie M. (Spangler) Riley. On December 23, 1950, in Mt. Vernon, she married Leslie W. Marlow, and he preceded her in death on November 13, 2017.
She graduated from Dix Grade School, Centralia High School, Mt. Vernon Community College, and Southern Illinois University Carbondale, and worked as a teacher for many years. She was a member of First Christian Church of Salem.
Lillie is survived by her son, Michael D. Marlow and wife Lena of Tampa, Florida; daughter, Sandra L. Work and husband Ted of Effingham; two grandchildren, Patrick Work and wife Tricia of Carbondale, and Shannon Juarez of Batavia; four great-grandchildren, Isabelle Juarez, Kaylee Work, Kaitlyn Juarez, and Hannah Juarez; and brother, Charles David Riley and wife Katie of Hillsboro, Oregon.
In addition to her husband, Leslie W. Marlow, she was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Jessie Riley; and step-mother, Hazel M. Riley.
Due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, a private family graveside service will be held, at Zion Grove (County Line) Cemetery, and the family hopes to host a public memorial service at a later date.
